Choosing a Central Florida Photographer

Posted on November 11, 2023November 11, 2023

Choosing the right photographer doesn’t have to be as overwhelming as you might think. As a Florida photographer, I’ve put together some tips to help with choosing a Central Florida photographer that meets your needs.

Did you know that not every photographer is the right photographer for you? I love photographing special moments but there are some that aren’t my specialty.

When looking at a photographer, ask yourself if they specialize in what you need. Choosing someone who only photographs newborns in a studio to do an outdoor family photoshoot may work against you.

Instead, choose someone who does quality work in the style that you need most and you are sure to be happier.

Do they understand Central Florida?

The weather and overall experience of Central Florida is very unique. Take a look at their work and ask yourself if they have a strong portfolio of Florida photos.

Do they understand the heat, humidity, bugs, and a variety of other uniquely Central Florida experiences? Are they booking sessions with an understanding of these things?

When talking to a Central Florida photographer, make sure that they have a genuine understanding of the uniqueness that is Central Florida.

Is their pricing too good to be true?

When looking at a photographer, take an honest look at their pricing. You may find some lower-priced photographers who will promise you everything for a very low fee.

If you are booking a wedding photographer at a discount, you may get a discount service. If you are booking with a newer photographer who sets their prices too low, you might find them ill-equipped to properly take the photos you need.

Keep in mind that photographers have to pay fees for gear, websites, licensing, taxes, and so much more. If they are offering you a discount, they are shortchanging something somewhere. Paying more for quality will leave you happier in the end.

Do you love their style?

Finding the right Central Florida photographer isn’t just about finding someone who shoots quality at a price you can afford. It’s also about finding someone who shoots in a style you love.

You will find that each photographer has a unique style and voice behind their pieces. Do they capture posed smiles or more authentic “lifestyle” styled smiles you’re used to seeing daily?

Find someone who shoots the style you will love to hang up in your home or print on your holiday cards.

Do they understand your needs?

When you are booking a photo shoot with a quality photographer, you’re looking for someone who understands your personal needs. Do you have a child with special needs, a toddler who thinks they rule the world, or a spouse who is not interested in photos?

A quality photographer will not only hear those needs, but they will have a plan to help your photoshoot meet you where you are.

For example, I love to work with a toddler who isn’t in the mood for photos, a child with special needs, or a mom who isn’t sure she’ll be beautiful in her photos. I love the opportunity to take those moments and make magic from them.
